In the summertime use a tank from an old gas water heater ( with out the outer sheet tin and insulation removed ) and put it up in your attic horizontally with the top of the tank tilted up just a little bit and take the inlet water line to your water heater and reroute it to the inlet on the tank in the attic Then hook the outlet line of the attic tank to the inlet of the water heater. You now have a Hot Water Preheater.
